work with us to Revitalize Our Church Community

On July 1, 2023 Saint Brendan began our initial one year journey to reinvigorate the church community following the Plan approved by the Archdiocese of Boston.

The Plan provided us goals for attendance, offertory and fundraising that needed to be met when our church is reevaluated by Archbishop Henning.
(See acceptance letter and full plan here)
Thanks to everyone’s support, 2024-25 Fiscal year was a huge success and this past July Friends of Saint Brendan was able to donate $71,000 to St. Brendan Church, which when added to the annual offertory collection, allowed us to cover the estimated operating costs of Saint Brendan Church and thus keep Saint Brendan open.

We are tasked with continuing to do so each year as we also work on funding the next phase in our journey which will finally involve more of a focus on specific much needed repairs to the Church !! Your generosity is much appreciated -as it helps to ensure our Saint Brendan Church and special Community remains for many years to come…

Our Church

In Dorchester, Massachusetts neighborhoods have always been identified by parish, by church, thus the church came to be the center of the community – so important to our identity.

The first Mass in our parish occurred in a garage on the corner of Gallivan Blvd. and Granite Ave in 1929, with the Church being built in 1933.
Much has changed since then. Families have endured and expanded. Each decade has brought newcomers who renew the houses and yards;
children whose laughter fills the streets.

There is a small town feel here… an old-time neighborhood community.

The School in Our Saint Brendan Community

Saint Brendan School is the last real
Neighborhood Parish Catholic School left in Dorchester.
If you take the church away from St. Brendan School,
it pulls that strong visual connection to the Catholic religion away from the children here as well.

Together at the center of our neighborhood, the Church and School remain as beacons of Faith, Hope and Community.
